Reward CardsReward programs for credit cards are becoming more popular and more varied. Why not earn a free vacation while you shop at the supermarket, or even earn cash back to spend on whatever you want.Many reward programs and cards are free, although some will have annual fees. It will depend on how much you anticipate spending on the card as to whether the reward program makes any fees worthwhile. Some cards may offer rewards program as an optional add-on to a card. This will usually have an annual fee associated just with the rewards program. Rewards Point ProgramsReward points programs give you points for each dollar that you spend on your card. You will usually receive a point for each dollar you spend. Many cards will have special partner stores, such as supermarkets, where you receive additional bonus points for the money you spend there.Points can usually be exchanged for a wide variety of products from CDs and DVDs to hotel stays and gift certificates. Cash Back CardsThese are similar to rewards points programs but, instead of receiving points, you recive cash back. This time you will usually receive 1c back for every dollar that you spend. This can sometimes go up to as much as 5c per dollar with specific retailers and under certain conditions.Instead of having points to use for a specific range of products, your cash back will accumulate over a period, usually 1 year. Airline Credit CardsMany people are members of airline frequent flyer programs. These allow you to earn frequent f lyer miles every time you fly, which you can then exchange for free flights. Most airlines now aalso offer their own credit cards which credit you with frequent flyer miles each time you use the card. This means that every time you shop at the supermarket you can be one step closer to your next vacation.Most airlines offer 1 mile for every dollar spent. You will often receive double miles when you use the card to book a flight directly with the airline. Most cards usually offer a generous sign up which means that you can sometimes be half way to a free flight after just one purchase. You can redeem your miles directly with the airlines to receive your free flights or upgrades. It can be wise to book these flights as far in advance as possible as space can be limited. Flights generally start at 25,000 miles for a round trip. Some new cards that have recently been introduced offer miles but aren't affiliated to a particular airline.
